This map is produced and maintained by Chatham County Fire Department. Chatham County Fire Department performs yearly Hydrant Inspections to verify hydrant status and functionality. All discrepancies that are discovered are reported to the proper water utility to perform repairs. It is important to note that Chatham County Fire Department does not have ownership of any hydrant and the status and repairs are ultimately performed at the discretion of the water utility. Hydrants are color coded based off of the amount of water it can flow in Gallons Per Minute (GPM). Insurance Services Office (ISO) governs insurance ratings based off of numerous factors. In order for a property to receive credit for a hydrant, the property must be located within 1000 feet of a hydrant capable of flowing 250GPM or greater.
