Instructor Sara Sheffield is the lead EMS instructor for Chatham County Fire Department’s training division. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University, she began her career in public service 10 years ago as an AEMT in Screven County. Over the years, her education journey continued, from acquiring her Firefighter certification in 2021 and Paramedic in 2023. She has always had a passion for education and acquired her Instructor/Coordinator-AEMT level license to better serve CCFD’s initial and continuing education programs.
With a desire to inspire educational and career growth, Instructor Sheffield has been a vital part of the recruit and initial education program. In a span of less than 2 years, she has been the leading guide to newly licensing 25 EMTs and 30 EMRs, with 11 more potentially in the current EMT-B class; she will also be hosting CCFD’s first ever AEMT class. When she’s not at work, she’s adventuring with her partner and 2 dogs.
