On Saturday October 4, 2025, dozens of fire service personnel gathered at the Savannah Fire Department Headquarters located at 121 E. Oglethorpe Ave. for the Savannah-Chatham Firefighters Memorial Service. The memorial gathering saw members from Chatham, Bryan, Effingham and Liberty counties.

Firefighters from across the Southeast placed a red rose for each firefighter remembered as the last alarm sounded in their memory. Chatham County Chairman Chester A. Ellis presented a proclamation declaring October 4, 2025 Fallen Firefighter Day.

There were 29 members dating back to 1825 who were honored.
