More than 70 applicants were tested over a three-day period, May 12th through the 14^th, for the Chatham County Fire Department Recruit Academy. Interested applicants endured a rigorous Physical Agility Test proctored by Training Coordinator Jonathan Campbell and firefighter John-William Farrell. An in-person interview was also conducted by Training Chief Joshua Anderson, Captain Andrew Ulmer and firefighter Alec Wogoman. This is Chief Joshua Anderson’s 12^th recruit class and the second full recruit academy since the department transitioned to Chatham County.

Successful qualifying applicants will undergo a 6-month, 900-hour course beginning June 9, 2025, specializing in fire prevention, suppression, and emergency medical response. Upon graduation, they will become a certified firefighter and guaranteed an entry level position within the department.
