Savannah Hosts the 98th Annual SEAFC/GAFC Leadership Conference

Fire service leaders from across the Southeast are gathering in Savannah this week for the 98th Annual Leadership Conference, presented jointly by the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs (SEAFC) and the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC).

Hosted by the Chatham County Fire Department and the Savannah Fire Department, the conference is taking place June 2-4, 2026, at the Savannah Convention Center. The event brings together fire chiefs, command officers, emergency service professionals, industry partners, and innovators for several days of leadership development, education, networking, and collaboration.

This year's conference theme focuses on balancing the rich traditions and legacy of the fire service with the technological advancements and cultural changes shaping the profession's future. Attendees will explore how innovation, adaptability, and time-honored values can work together to strengthen emergency services and prepare organizations for tomorrow's challenges.

The Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs is honored to host one of the Southeast's premier leadership events. Conference organizers anticipate participation from fire service leaders representing nine southeastern states, with more than 400 attendees and approximately 600 vendors and exhibitors expected throughout the event.

Educational sessions, keynote presentations, and leadership discussions will provide attendees with opportunities to exchange ideas, share best practices, and examine emerging trends impacting fire and emergency services. Topics will address leadership, operational readiness, workforce development, technology, and organizational effectiveness.

The conference also highlights the strong partnership between the Chatham County Fire Department and Savannah Fire Department, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing the fire service profession and promoting excellence in public safety throughout the region.

Beyond its educational value, the conference is expected to generate significant economic activity for the Savannah area while showcasing the city's renowned hospitality, historic charm, and dedication to public safety leadership.

As fire service professionals continue to navigate an evolving emergency response landscape, the 98th Annual SEAFC/GAFC Leadership Conference serves as a platform to learn, connect, and lead—honoring the traditions of the past while embracing the opportunities of the future.
