Chatham County Fire hosted an Aerial Apparatus Certification program. The class covers knowledge and skillset needed to safely and efficiently operate aerial apparatus, such as aerial ladders and elevated platforms. The class is based on the NFPA 1002: Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications.
Personnel from CCFD, Garden City Fire Rescue and Rincon Fire attended the four day event and successfully passed both written and hands on practical testing. CCFD Training Chief Joshua Anderson and firefighter Alec Wogoman supervised the training curriculum.
The course covered a variety of crucial elements including, Aerial Device Terminology, Driving and Positioning, Stabilization Systems, operation of Aerial Device, Maintenance and Inspection, Safety Regulation strategy and tactics.
