On Friday, March 28, CCFD Fire Chief James Vickers presented the County Commission with the fire department quarterly report.
Numbers through March 28, 2025, include 61 Fire calls for service, 452 Rescue and Emergency Medical Service incidents, 15 Hazardous Conditions, 54 Service Calls, 130 Good Intent Calls, 148 False Alarms and 1 Severe Weather calls.
As for the Behavioral Health Unit, Vickers stated there were 245 calls including 192 911 calls and follow ups and 63 referrals received. He went on to say from January 1 to March 20, 2025, there were 3,048 mental health, suicide, overdose, and alcohol related cases reported.
As for community engagement, Vickers said year to date there have been more than 700 contacts with community members. That would include special events, requests for smoke alarms, Knox Boxes, and home safety checks. The department is currently down 30 positions that need to be filled and the department is actively pursuing Recruit School applicants for the academy slated to begin June 9th Vickers added.
