On December 21, 2024, Captain Andrew Ulmer was been appointed as the Technical Rescue Team Coordinator for the Chatham County Fire Department.

In his new role, Captain Ulmer will lead the Technical Rescue Team, ensuring the department maintains the highest standards of operational readiness for complex rescue incidents. His responsibilities will include overseeing training programs, managing the maintenance and readiness of technical rescue equipment, procedure development, and collaborating with other agencies to enhance inter- agency coordination.

“Captain Ulmer’s proven leadership and commitment to excellence make him the ideal choice for this critical position. He will work closely with the team and department leadership to advance our mission and strengthen our capabilities in technical rescue operations,” said Chief James Vickers.
